How to Set Up SMS Notifications with Reeserved

Send booking confirmations and reminders via text message. Takes 5 minutes.

Before you start

  • •A Reeserved account (SMS is available on all paid plans).
  • •A Twilio account (for custom sender ID or high-volume usage). Sign up at twilio.com.
  • •A Twilio phone number (for two-way SMS) or use Reeserved's shared sender.

Step-by-step setup

Follow these steps to connect SMS Notifications to your Reeserved account.

    Decide: shared sender or custom Twilio

    Reeserved provides a shared SMS sender on paid plans (no setup needed). For custom sender ID, branded messages, or high volume, connect your own Twilio account.

    Using shared sender (simplest)

    Go to Settings > Notifications. Toggle on "SMS Notifications". Select which events trigger SMS: confirmation, reminder, cancellation. Done — no Twilio account needed.

    Using your own Twilio (optional)

    If you want a custom sender: log in to Twilio Console, get your Account SID and Auth Token from the dashboard. Buy a phone number if you want two-way SMS.

    Enter Twilio credentials

    In Reeserved Settings > Notifications, click "Connect Twilio". Enter your Account SID, Auth Token, and sending phone number.

    Configure notification events

    Choose which events trigger SMS: booking confirmation (instant), booking reminder (24h before), booking cancellation (instant), reschedule notification.

    Test it

    Create a test booking with your own phone number. You should receive an SMS confirmation within seconds. Verify the message content and sender ID.

Troubleshooting

SMS not being received

Check the phone number format (must include country code, e.g., +1 for US, +91 for India). Verify your Twilio account has sufficient balance. Check Twilio Console > Logs for delivery errors.

Messages showing as 'from unknown number'

This happens with shared sender IDs. Connect your own Twilio account with a purchased phone number for branded messaging.

High SMS costs

SMS costs vary by country. For India, consider using WhatsApp instead (cheaper and higher open rates). For US/Europe, SMS is typically $0.0079/message.

Tips

  • •SMS works on every phone — no smartphone or app required. Great for reaching customers who don't use WhatsApp.
  • •Use SMS and WhatsApp together — Reeserved can send to both channels, or fall back to SMS when WhatsApp is unavailable.
  • •Keep SMS messages short (160 characters per segment). Include only essential info: business name, date, time.
  • •Monitor your SMS quota in Settings. Growth: 500/month, Pro: 2,000/month, Business: unlimited.
